Here at Sayers we take arthritis pain seriously.
Is your canine or feline friend aging and starting to struggle with arthritis pain? Are they slowing down or have they stopped enjoying activities they once loved? Do you struggle to give daily, oral medications to your pet but feel there is no real relief? Then we may have the solution for you and your furry friend!
The veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturer Zoetis has released two new medications, Librela for dogs and Solensia for cats. Both are once a month injections that will be administered in the clinic by your vet staff. Improvement of arthritis pain and subsequent improvement of mobility should be noticeable in as few as five to seven days, with full effects after the second monthly dose.
If you are noticing any pain symptoms in your pet, or are unsure if your pet is exhibiting any pain symptoms, please send us a chat or request an appointment through the app, or give us a call here at the clinic so we can schedule your pet’s first appointment on the road to relief.
Due to their formulation and metabolism process, both Librela and Solensia are considered very safe for all dogs and cats (over the age of 12 months), even those with chronic, underlying health concerns. They can also be given with any other class of medication without any contraindications.
***Note: never give human pain medication without first checking with your veterinarian, as many of them are toxic to pets. We have much safer options available here, that are made especially for pets.

Appointments
Our appointment schedule is computerized, allowing us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our abilities. A staff member will open the clinic doors as early as 7:30 AM for drop-off patients.
We are open for scheduled appointments:
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM / Closed Saturday and Sunday
Walk in Appointments
Making an appointment in advance will ensure that you and your pet will be seen with minimal wait time. We will work walk-ins into the schedule as possible.
Open Hospital
Sayers Animal Hospital operates an open hospital. This means our team welcomes owners to be with their pet during most medical procedures, whether it’s a simple vaccination or a complete exam.
Emergencies / Urgent Care
Emergencies are accepted any time our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call the hospital first to let us know that you are on your way. A staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We have a veterinarian and support staff on duty five days a week. They are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care need for your pet. An emergency team consists of a veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet’s life. Emergencies can be events such as rat poisoning, chocolate ingestion, or car accidents. If you feel your pets needs emergency treatment, do not hesitate to call immediately. 210-649-1581
We are also available for urgent care if the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our staff will work to squeeze you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an idea how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Payments
Payments are due at the time of the service. Sayers Animal Hospital accepts payment via cash, check, and credit card (except American Express).
We also accept Care Credit and can assist you in applying right in the clinic, or you may go to carecredit.com. Another payment method is Scratchpay, where you can pay your veterinary expense over time. Please visit scratchpay.com for more information.
We also accept pet insurances and Pet Assure.

Treatment Plans
We provide itemized treatment plans for all surgeries and other conditions on request. We want to be as transparent as possible, so you understand all charges.
